Here’s what I said about selfies in the previous article. Right, let’s get to it then.
1. Instagram
Instagram is the selfie heavyweight and it’s still going strong. The editing features offered by the app are more than enough for a lot of people. Plus, this is where most of your selfies are going to end up anyway, so why not use the app to boot.
2. Frontback

Why be selfie-ish when you can capture what’s around you just as well as you can capture yourself. Frontback fires a shot from the front camera and the back at the same time so you get a top-down picture of you and what’s in front of you all in one moment.
3. Retrica
Retrica takes a retro approach to the art of selfie clicking. Its default styling makes the picture look like it was taken in the late 1800s and to some people, that’s an extremely cool look. Another way Retrica differs from other selfie and camera apps in general is the live filter support. While usually you click the picture and then apply the filter, here everything happens live and you’ll have to select the filter before jumping in. There’s a shuffle button to bring up new filters randomly. This means you’ll know exactly how the photo will turn out. At the same time, this can be limiting because once you’ve clicked the picture, you can’t edit it. The app has a lot of retro filters to offer along with borders.
4. Line Camera
Line Camera, just like anything even remotely related to Line is an incredibly fun app. There’s a lot of stuff you can play around with including filters, frames, stickers and text editing tools. If you can’t find something to suit your needs, hit the store, you’ll find a lot of stuff to buy from there.
5. Candy Camera
Candy Camera follows a gesture-based take on selfies. Swipe left or right on the camera preview to switch between filters and up or down to show the filters pane. Just like Retrica, Candy Camera has live filter previews but in this app you can edit the image and change the filters later on, something you can’t do in Retrica.
6. Smart Selfie
Smart Selfie is the CamMe of Android land. It takes a different approach to selfies and you’ll have to decide if it has earned the “smart” tag. The developer thinks that the back cameras of our phones (especially Android phones) are just way better than the front ones and the selfies from the front facing camera just don’t look as sharp. If you feel the same, download this app. This is how it works, you select how many people are in the shot (up to 4), select landscape/portrait mode and then hold your phone out. The app will sense the face/faces and will use a robotic voice to command you to “move right” or “move closer” and such depending on your position. I tried it a couple of times and it did work.
